Quick Fixes Aren't Sexy
Mar 25, 2021There’s an interesting thing that happens to mamas postpartum. After delivering a baby that they carried, grew, and nurtured for 9 months, they expect to get their body back yesterday.
*Oh, friend, if you've had these thoughts you're not alone.*
Ladies get impatient while looking for any sense of normalcy as they enter this new stage of womanhood. While quick fixes can look sexy, they're not going to benefit your body in the long run.
But what if you approached it from an alternate perspective:
>>What can you learn about your body during this time?<<
“But Erica, someone else already has their 6-pack after having their baby.”
Great! That's their journey and you're missing the bigger picture. Trying to force your body to do something that it might not be ready for yet is not benefiting you or making you a stronger or healthier mama. There’s more to getting your body back than the vanity of it, Beautiful!
So, the question then becomes: How can I get my body back without a quick fix?
And the answer is simple: Consistency.
If you show up consistently for your gentle movement practice, you are giving your body the time it needs to heal while making better physical and mental connections.
>>Things will start to open up for you and you will start to discover something new about yourself and your body...and that’s invaluable.<<
- You don’t need to sweat to get results.
- You don’t need to do crunches to get your abs back.
- You just need to show up for your body!
Here are 3 things to keep in mind as you begin to switch your mindset from wanting a quick fix to establishing lifelong results.
#1: Your Why
Determine your why behind your movement practice.
Take Core Rehab mama, Amanda, for example. She wanted to take care of herself so she could take better care of her family.
As mamas, we all can relate to that!
>>When you establish your why, it can help motivate and enhance your life!<<
So take the time to figure out what's important to you and make them non-negotiables in your day.
This will help you show up consistently while cutting out unnecessary tasks to make room for self-care.
#2: Comparison
Let go of comparison and lean into your unique journey.
This is your time to discover something new about yourself, and you're not going to learn what that is by focusing on someone else's progress.
>>I encourage you to look at your journey and focus on ways that you can show up consistently to heal your body from the inside out.<<
#3: Trust
This last one can be scary for women to accept as what they are going to learn from me is different than what they've been taught in the past.
Being open-minded to this process is going to teach you things that will last a lifetime.
Let go of the idea that a quick fix is going enhance your life and trust that you are right where you're supposed to be.
>>Be open to what you're supposed to be learning about your body and trust that it is going to enhance the way you feel in the long run.<<
Oh, and friend? One more thing…
Knowledge is power and no one can take that away from you.
>>By learning the tools that will create healthy habits you are setting yourself up for lifelong success.<<
So stop looking for a quick fix and start discovering something new about your body.
- Through consistency.
- Through movement.
- Through mindset.
